Hmm. I would have to agree that Epson support has not been terribly useful.

- What version of Mac OS X are you running?
- What version of the Epson 1290 driver are you running?

I still have my 1270 (it's the only printer I have that does a reliable job of printing envelopes!) I found that the latest download from Epson for this printer would overwrite the more recent version of its driver and profiles that was supplied with Mac OX X v10.4.

It's not impossible that the same thing applies for the Epson 1280 and 1290 models. Did you test the printer before you installed the Epson software included with it? You might have inadvertently overwritten the most current printer driver and profiles.

Hello all,

just spent 5 minutes in the online Epson suppport chat. What a laugh. If ever you want to be treated like a complete idiot then this is the place
to go.

Maybe someone here can help. The problem: I've replaced my 1270 with a
1290, installed the Epson driver for the 1290, all other settings
unchanged. Now, when I print from PS - as I've done for years with my
1200 and 1270 - with the correct paper profile selected and the
automatic colour correction in the printer driver disabled my prints
come out way too dark.

I already suspected a hardware or ink problem. But everything works OK
(well, within its limitations) if I print without a profile and have the
automatic printer colour correction enabled.

Any suggestions?

Ralf
