If I was going to get another long non-zoom I
think I'd go for something around 200mm since I
already have the Apo 5.6/400 and the results I get
with that are okay. I can really do without
chromatic aberration.

I wouldn't part with mine, works well with the 1.4 & 2x EX converters as well!

I have bad experience with the Sigma manual focus lenses.... I'd
suggest looking for a fixed focal length lens. The AF 300/4 APO Macro
is a great lens for the price. And I'm not the only one on this list
with that opinion. It is not "rare" but I hardly ever see them for sale.
