Pål, have you tried to shoot into a group of people, vehicles, animals etc.
that are moving with the D?
Nothing good will come of it - even with a F. 2.8 lens.
Sports photography is simply off limits using a *ist D, IMO.
The AF is too slow and FPS is insufficient
Unless you use MF, naturally.
The small buffer emphasizes this.
For panoramas, I think 7-8 secs. between each shot (after number five) is
simply not good enough.
D70 users don't have to wait at all - they go turn-shoot, turn-shoot,
turn-shoot unstill the 360 degree circle is complete.

The lenses argument I don't understand. For instance; Nikon offers a 17-55mm
F.2.8 (w. on board focusing) lens for digital cameras. It focuses VERY fast!
Which Pentax lens can match these features, please?

I'm not really worried and do not consider changing brand - I love my
Pentax'es.
I couldn't afford an expensive camera system anyway. I already have
15000-20000 USD invested in photographic equipment (not counting computers).
A pro "35mm" outfit would probably mean doubling this amount.

But if my annual income depended on photography exclusively, I wouldn't
spend more than a few minutes choosing between Canon (expensive) and Nikon
(a little less expensive). I guess most photographers did just that.

Jens

What kind of Professional photography do you plan to do? There are wildlife
photographers who find Pentax AF more than adequate. 99% of all pro
photography don't rely on AF at all. Sports photography - maybe.

Pentax do compete in the pro segments and again AF speed isn't critical for
most pros. In fact, it is the amateurs who mostly compare focussing speeds.

There are plenty of people making a living from photography that uses
Pentax. Those who don't probably doesn't due to Pentax AF.

Look at Pentax.co.jp. Respectable compared to Nikon and Canon and surpass
everybody else in the lens department..
