The controle layout of the D is - with very few exceptions - brilliant, IMO.
Very true to the Pentax tradition (keep it logically, simple and
photographer oriented).
The buffer problem is "only" a problem when shooting action and panoramas.
A high speed CF card (ultra) is a clever investment in order to minimize
write time.
The DS doen't offer continuos AF.

I have mixed feelings.  I find the control layout of the D to be much
more to my liking.  There have been times when I ran out of buffer with
the D.  I haven't really been able to do that with the Ds, so far at least.
