I disagree, Paul.

RFK was a hawk in the 50s and early 60's, but word is that his
brother's death changed him greatly.  He certainly was advocating a
full pullout by the time he was running for the Democratic ticket in
'68.  In fact, he was seen as an anti-war candidate at the time he ran
threw his hat into the ring for the presidential nomination, IIRC.

Whether that was merely political posturing to gain votes will never be known.

As for his alleged affairs, it's hard to say when or if they'd have
come to light.  The press knew about them, but were pretty closed
mouth about them.  They were different times...
