Yes it was/is legendary but having owned the Contax CZ 50/1.4 MM and Pentax A50/1.4 concurrently I'd say practically they were virtually indistinguishable. My A*135/1.8 bettered the CZ 135/2 (pretty obvious) as and my A*85/1.5 bettered the CZ 85/1.4 MM (marginally).
