During my ongoing overhaul of a Spotmatic, I've learned two things
about Pentax repair that might apply to your situation.  First,
there's a chance that the shutter curtain doesn't have enough tension
on it to release the mirror after travelling.  The second thing I
learned is that every time I think I have the problem sorted out, I
find out I don't have the problem sorted out and it will take me at
least three more attempts at troubleshooting before I even know what
the root of my problem is.  At this point I put the camera away and
have a beer.

Seriously, any time I've asked questions about repairing a camera on
this list, I'm usually inundated with links to informative sites,
hints, tips, and on at least one occasion I received an off-list
response that included some very specific instructions along with a
