I strongly disagree.  Perhaps Frank's choice of a title has the effect of
making some think the guy with the book is the subject.  I see the street
scene as the subject, and the guy as a part of the scene.  Plus, stripping
away the traffic reduces substantially the feeling of a sense of place.
Losing the bikes, as suggested, also diminishes the sense of place and
upsets the balance of the photo, which, IMO, is just about perfect.
