Like you, Shel, I don't spend a lot of time watching shows like
Entertainment Tonight and its ilk, so I'm not up on gossip. I am
mildly aware that Cruise is thought to be a bit weird due to his
Scientology.
Funny, but John Travolta is also a Scientologist, and while one does
hear about that a bit, he doesn't seem to have attracted nearly the
same amount of negative press as Tom. I wonder why?
I'd guess because John embraces his belief in the teachings of
Scientology as a personal philosophy, and doesn't expound on it as tho'
it were the next global religion, and put down everyone who doesn't
agree with him 100%.
Mr. Cruise, on the other hand, comes up with totally unfounded personal
opinions, labels them facts, sternly disputes anyone who says otherwise,
and says he bases those "facts" on what he's learned from Scientology.
Wrong. Untruths. Also says that anyone who doesn't believe as *he* does
doesn't know what he's talking about.
Ol' Tom is the keeper of the truth, and don't you *dare* call him down
on it!
I guess he hasn't heard it's really all a very successful fake, started
on a bet between the inventor and his club buddies...
No, I guess not. He wouldn't believe it anyhow...
