Because of live preview, when you want to take a shot the sensor has to "clear itself" and get ready to go. On a poor specimen this introduces a delay equivalent to manual focus when you forget which way to turn the lens. The AF systems are roughly equivalent to SLRs.

so what advantage would that give? TTL viewing? digicams kinda have that.
lenses? i doubt there would be any exotic ones, that zoom wouldn't cover.
nah, not worth it.

A _lot_ less shutter lag.  This is a huge advantage over the compacts.
