I do have one adapter (had it for years) but I never really examined it to
figure out how it works.
What you are saying is that metering works, but all shooting and metering is
in stoped down mode.
So the adapter just holds the lens on the body :-)

I't probably a better idea to buy a 645 AND a couple of Pentax lenses. Then
perhaps use the Xenotar now and then.
Or stick to the P6 system, which works quite well, as long as no metering is
involved. That is flash -/studio work, and landscape shots, when I use a
hand held (incident) meter anyway.

Adapters are available, and it works.

Aperture will close down to whatever f-stop you set.  This makes
focusing difficult when shooting at small apertures unless you take
the trouble to open up to focus and then close down for the photo.
Metering is in stopped-down mode only.
