i would take my pz1p and tokina 28-70 f2.8. if i couldn't take a shot
with that i wouldn't take it at all. that set up is not that heavy and
that lens would give me the results i wanted.

I think this really depends on the intent of the trip. For example:

1) For fun (ie. trip with friends, significant other) - One camera and a
zoom. In my case, it would be the Maxxum 7 and 24-105.

2) Mix of fun and photography (ie. I have some time to myself to get more
serious) - LX, 28/3.5, 50/1.4, 105/2.8 (although, I'd rather a Leica for
this kind of thing)

3) Serious photography - Same as #2. I wouldn't travel with the Pentax 6X7.
