really care that much... on the other hand it leaves prospective
customers either hanging or buying other products.
I think they do care. When the *D was first announced, there was no
mention of price, only a rough time frame. It was speculated on and off
this list that the price might break the $1K barrier. When the camera
was finally ready for production and it was announced that it would be
ready soon, the Canon Rebel was announced right after that announcement,
with a price of $999. It is widely believed that Canon did this to
pre-empt the potential under $1K pentax body.
