I do. And so do a lot of others. Numbers are
man made and don't 'observe' the laws of
physics. Numbers (labels) and mathematics (a
language) are man made and obey specific
rules. 1 will always be 1. But 1 (something)
may have any value you like and be equal to 2
(something else). But 1 egg will never be
equal to 2 eggs. Unless we add another unit,
such as weight, or kind, or size, or shape,
or colour. Then one 50 gram egg could be
equal in weight to two 25 gram eggs. For this
kind of thing we have algebra. 1a = 2b and
this will start an argument that will go on
for a long time unless you agree that
mathematics is simply a man made language. In
which case we can stop now.
This confusion of 'words' for 'things' has
gone on for a long time and is directly
responsible for 'magical' thinking. Particles
do not obey the 'Laws of Physics'. The Laws
of Physics have been derived by man from his
observations of Physical phenomena. Without
too much success as we all know. Where is the
electron in the first shell of an hydrogen atom?
I repeat. The Laws of Physics did not exist
before man. But the way the elemental
particles behave did and the laws are an
attempt to explain this. Poor old Einstein.
He so wanted to complete his theory of all
things. But I'd better stop now because I'm
moving out of my field.
