I know I don't have to tell you this, but the existence of God isn't a democratic concept. Either He is or He isn't, regardless of how many people or who believes in him (or not). I know that Isaac Newton had some fairly odd ideas about the occult, including the fact that he was an alchemist - ideas that don't dovetail very well with Christianity as most know it. In terms of any American president, I'm sure that things haven't changed: no atheist will ever get elected president. I'm sure your examples were theists, but if they weren't, they'd never be able to admit it publically. cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson
