I'll toss my 2c in here.:-)

I have the istD as well as the D2H and D1. I  find the istD just a hair to slow 
for equine
work, but thats 
not tosay its no good. I have used the camera in a pinch, if the D2h is sick. I 
just have
to go back to my 
slr way of catching action which is a slightly slower shutter release. For 
panning it
works ok.
For dressage or reining,its to slow on the buffer.

I know Mark Roberts shoots bikes and cars with his D and they look good.
They are a fine camera, with some klimitations is all.:-)
