Upgrading!

Pentax make very nice entry level and enthusiast cameras, bus is not a
player in the 35mm pro-market (5-8 FPS cameras).
So, for enthusiast, who want the oportunity to upgrade later to pro-level
equipment, pentax is a bad choise - since they will have to go elsewhere for
5-8 FPS bodies and F.1.4-2.8 lenses.

So it kinda goes like this: If you have a hunch that you will later move on
to pro level eqipment, don't buy Pentax, because this will be an expensive
detour. Better to buy a Canon entry level or enthusiast camera (D300 or
D350), which are also nice and small. Then you still have the oportunity to
re-use some of the lenses and other accessories later - that is if you ever
get that far.

When you buy a Pentax you KNOW you are stuck at amateur level, unless you
invest a whole lot of money in annother brand.
It would be a good thing for anybody who wants to move on. All those who
later went with Canon, would have had a choise.

Pentax should actually pay Canon to provide a pro level camera with a PKAF
bayonet. Then Pentax could start selling a lot of F.1.4-2.8 again. Pentax
have failed to realize that the photographic world have moved on to 5-8FPS
cameras. I wonder if they ever will - perhaps they ar quite comfetable
making consumer style cameras. If so, we will se the last Pentax DSLR soon.

This is a great thing! There are plenty of options already from Canon
and Nikon. People should use one of those if that's what they need.
Why would it be a good thing to have yet another brand making cameras
like that? I like my small, no frills Pentaxes that stay out of the
way while I try to create art with them.

Speak for yourself. If you are walking around in a city for six hours
in a row shooting people in the street, camera strapped to your wrist,
size and weight become a big issue. When I do that I'm not doing
anything else, btw.

Give me a small istD with an FA35 over a 20S with whatever lens is
equivalent anytime.
