Hi!

You all may recall that yesterday I fell for a pretty sophisticated eBay scam,
and enterered my password on a fake site. I hadn't slept well the night before
and was pretty tired.

Immediately I changed passwords at eBay, Paypal, and my ISP. In fact I have
changed them twice. I removed all cards and bank information from Paypal. There
is a card that eBay won't let me remove, but it has expired.

Today I received what appears to be a legitimate Paypal message. I am baffled by it. I am
not a seller, and don't even know what "updating service for auction listings"
might be.

"Dear Joseph Tainter,

"You are signed up for PayPal's daily updating service for auction listings with PayPal logos for eBay.

"During our last update, your eBay User ID, **JT***, and password were denied as invalid by eBay. Therefore, your listings were not updated with PayPal logos."

As I say, the message does seem to have come from Paypal.

Did the thieves somehow manage to get into my Paypal account despite the fact
that I changed the password twice?

Appreciate any advice. I have written to Paypal, but expect no help there.

Joe, is there a way, in which you could *call* PayPal? Get to talk with a person? Get their name? Keep following up and urge that person to help you resolve the issue?

Just a suggestion, nothing more.

Boris
