I'd have described it as condescending - I wouldn't presume to give basic personal safety advice to near-total strangers, and I'd expect the same from them...

If he/she genuinely thinks that there's a particular risk associated with photography or internet forums, then that's reckless paranoia IMO.

It's just gotten worse!

I posted a reply to this Yahoo list owner, which criticized his suggestion of every model and photographer filing a detailed "flight plan" for all their future shoots. However, this is a moderated group, and all messages flow through him for approval, before reaching the group. He has denied my reply post access to the group, and completely censored my criticism!

He only had this to say:

Your objection to this suggestion is very suspicious to me. Nobody
else has reacted to it in a negative way.

In the interest of completeness, no one else has posted to this Yahoo list about this issue other than myself. (At least no one has managed to get a post past his personal approval.) This doesn't mean that everyone in the group likes his suggestion. Quite probably some people haven't even read it yet. It's also possible that some people don't think it's such a great idea, but they just don't want to break the ice and be the first to criticize it. Quite possibly, some people just don't care one way or the other.

I think it's a bit misguided of him to point out the lack of others complaining, as a part of his justification to cancel my post.

Recently, I've been wishing I could afford to relocate to a more "sophisticated and educated" environment. Now, I'm wishing it even more.

take care,
Glen
