I don't know whether that is a button or a plug covered with a rubber
dust cap. Why would there be a white balance button there? seems an
awkward location for that sort of thing. What about the door on that
side of the body, behind which I expect most of the connections
(power, remote, USB/video, etc)...
That's where the manual white balance button is on the istD.
A PC socket behind a door would be a good way to get a door broken off.
