Hi Rob, I am still just looking at the PDML archives time to time,
hope you are all well.

Now I caught the discussion about upcoming new Pentax, and if it uses
the D200 sensor. There were some questions regarding the noise and
banding of the D200 Nikon. Well, at my current employer, a national
newspaper we got a D200 and colleagues from Czech only national news
agency have been using them right from the start, including some
pre-release samples before the official release. Obviously it's PJ
use, and everybody is quite happy with it, even noise and sharpness.
It's no doubt that current Canons are about one stop better regarding
noise than Nikon, but it's not such a big deal, as far as I see it -
it's not like D200 files were unusable at 1600 while Canon's were
glorious. It's a not so big difference. While otherwise, from what the
colleagues who shoot a thousand photos daily with the camera say,
they quite like it, even more than the D2X. So I have hopes for the
sensor... :)

Most recently, the new wideangle pancake has got me intrigued - it's a
digital format lens I would be raving about was it available for
Nikon! Would make for a terrific small SLR combo, as was always
Pentax's strength.

Feel free to forward this to the list, if you wish. Anyway, please
tell there my best wishes to all the friends :)

Good light!
