I'll second that endorsement of the 12-24, I love it.

I shot some frames with the DA 12-24 and the FA 50/1.4 in approximately the
same light a few days ago. To tell the truth, the FA 50/1.4 RAWs struck me as
slightly cooler at the time. However, I wasn't trying to compare anything and
the light could have changed a bit. In any case, the DA 12-24 is a wonderful
lens. Minor variations of color balance are, of course, irrelevant if you shoot
raw.

That's one of the reasons why brand loyalty is more or less a thing of the past. IMO. Aren't a number of the P&S digitals actually a Sanyo product?

Not that Tokina, can't make great lenses. We just shouldn't be referring to it as "Pentax glass".

Tokina made a number of the Minolta Maxxum/Dynax lenses in the past when Minolta's own capacity could not keep up with demand. They probably do OEM work for others, as well.

I'd be interested to see the color balance of these lenses. Tokina seems to design to a native color balance that is quite cool to my eye. Every Tokina lens I have ever tested has had this characteristic and made me want to run screaming for a warming filter. That was the only complaint I ever heard about the lenses they made for Minolta, that they were cooler than actual Minolta glass.

Someone handed me a picture and said, "This is a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture of you is when you were younger. "...Here's a picture of me when I'm older." Where'd you get that camera man?
