Put this in the FWIW dept -
About 10 years ago, I approached the camera shop in Indianapolis that
sells/rents Nikon equipment (can't recall the name offhand).
I wanted to rent a 600mm Nikon lens, I don't remember the exact cost but for
a weeks usage, it was several hundred US$ along with shipping both ways &
insurance. The only way I would do that would be if it could be charged off
on a paying job.
I don't know of anyone renting Pentax (35mm) in the states.

I have a project I want to do. (I think I have mentioned in another
post.)
What I want to do is to make a photo documentary about the beach birds in
my
neighbourhood. My community is changing. Money talks and the local birds
are
not able to talk for themselves. If somebody doesn't speak up for them,
their daily bread will be under money making machines (read shopping
malls)
very soon. We (those who want to preserve the bird's area) have
registered 27 different
specimens. But knowing they are there is one thing, being able to show
them
to people is another. To do this I need some long glass.
Why not go directly to Pentax Norway and ask if you can borrow an
(insured) 600/4 for an extended period? They can only say "It's
discontinued"
