I think they are getting harder to find now.
Look and they can be found.
2) I can't stomach the idea of having an f3.5-5.6 lens as my only
normal/wide, so do you know of a faster wide (20mm or so) that I
could
get for a similar price?
FA20mm lenses are somewhat costly and difficult to find used. A wide-
normal prime that I'd go for would be the FA28/2.8 AL for around
$220, an FA35/2 AL is a perfect normal for $299.
3) How much memory will I need to store 100 or so RAWs?
With the DS, a 1G SD card will store 93-97 RAW format exposures. A
60x card is all you need to maximize the camera's write performance.
5) Is there anything else that I should know? :-)
Use lith's or good rechargable batteries.
Presuming you intend to take a lot of pictures every week, a set of
AA NiMH batteries rated 2300mah or greater plus a good quality
charger is the most economical. With these batteries, kept charged
properly, you should see 500-700 exposures per charge.
If you tend to use the camera less frequently, AA Lithium disposables
last just about as long as CRV3 disposables and tend to cost a little
less (in bulk packaging, typically $8-9 per set). With these
batteries, you should see 1100-1300 exposures per set.
