PZ = Power Zoom. The switch should be set here when using power zoom (!).
AZ = Auto Zoom. For when you want to use Auto Zoom.
MODE = Auto zoom Set

Okay, the AZ is where your Image Size Tracking, Zoom Clip and Zoom Effect set of
features live. I don't have my 80-200/2.8 booklet in front of me, but I'm pretty sure
this is how it works: You hold the switch over on MODE and push the button to select
which you'd like. Then, when you want to use them, you push the button. I'm sure
someone who actually uses these functions will be glad to correct any mistakes I've
made here.

I'm sure they'd be glad to.

Real Photographers carry it one-handed. See: http://www.alphoto.com/zuk3.jpg

Blunt trauma, I'd think, and some questions about the PZ/AZ/MODE thing.

They sure squeezed it in there, didn't they?

Good luck. I hear Singh Rays are good...
