Again, the problem is poor use of names in North America. What are called elk in North America are not closely related to moose, but more closely related to caribou. They are not elk at all, but wapiti. What is called elk in Europe look just like what Americans call moose. Just more evidence that the Europeans who settled in North America didn't know their animals and birds and got the names all screwed up.
