Luis,

Try a *istDS or DS2. The *istD is getting old and expensive. It is
the first digital Pentax sold. The rumor is that it will be replaced
this fall by a new Pentax digital. Prices for the old one should drop
sharply at that time.

The *istD, DS, and DL cameras are very similar in size and handling.
The D will accept a optional battery grip, but otherwise their
dimensions and imaging electronics are the same across all 3. The
*istDS will have a better viewfinder than the *istDL, for not much
price difference.

Think of Pentax doing it this way:
*istD - new launch of digital, features Pentax thought were needed...
*istDS - refinement of 1st digital, lower the price point, keep the
key features, upgrade to SD cards, and WOW, 'these are selling like
hotcakes' we need to make more!
*istDL - retain the same electronics, make the LCD a bit bigger and
make it a poro prism model to cut some of the costs out. Sell it for
an even lower price!
*istDS2 - as long as we have the larger LCD, we can put out a revised
model of the *istDS with this larger LCD and upgrade the software we
are using to expand the features available.

Personally, I would buy a DS and a new Pentax 16-45 zoom and just
start shooting. The results are great and very convenient to work
with. In fact, this is what I did!
Regards, Bob S.
