This is not a rumor, it is the official announcement from Pentax
during PMA. If you want something of that calibre and price, I'd wait
until Fall when it makes its debut.
But it isn't really necessary. I expect the new body to be excellent,
and plan to buy one when it is available, but in the meantime the
*ist DS is proving to be an excellent camera, fully capable of
professional quality work. I find it useful enough that I was happy
to purchase a second body.

The current state of the camera industry should not be surprizing.
We'll see models come and go every six months.
Just like the computer industry in the early 90s.
