Hi, folks! I have been toying with the idea of organizing a gathering for this coming October at Pine Grove Furnace in Pennsylvania. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/pinegrovefurnace.aspx The two or three listers I've spoken with off-list about this have responded positively. The Appalachian Trail runs through the park, and camping is available. They may even have a cabin or two (for those of you who don't cherish camping under the stars in October).
My initial thoughts were to meet at the park for one of the first two weekends in October. On one or both days, we could car pool to a spot along the trail outside the park and hike back in. The trail outside the park is rocky, but should be hikeable by anyone in average health. For those who would rather not hike a few miles, inside the park the trail is flat and much of it is wheelchair accessible. I know it's early for this, but if I receive a few positive responses I'll start working on making the arrangements.
