I'm talking within the past five-six years on two different mounts
(Nikon and Canon). I swore off ever looking at or through a Sigma lens
again in 2003.

You couldn't pay me to buy any Sigma AF lens, even though the higher-end
stuff has good glass. Too many firmware issues (Note all the problems
that Sigma lenses are having with the D200).
I've had a few of these. I now refer to them as Stigmas. On one of them,
I found that the whole front assembly was stuck to the main body with
double-sided tape. Not a screw in sight. And I bought it new.
