Pretty normal and not a bad exposure really, the camera has compensated a 
little in order to accommodate the highlights. Your adjusted images however 
look quite washed out, try just adjusting the gamma. IOW if using PS adjust the 
middle arrow in the levels control tool  to brighten the images (~1.2 for the 
first and ~1.35 for the second), this way you won't loose your blacks.
