Yuck.
Glad to hear you weren't hurt. I hope the other person wasn't hurt too badly, and that you can obtain some compensation for your losses.

Pain in the butt about the car.

About noon yesterday as I was working at my desk, I heard a horn and the sickening sound of a collision on the street outside. Felipe was coming home from a errand. As he approached the driveway to our building, a woman with three children in the car, sitting at the curb, suddenly hit the gas and drove straight at his car's passenger side. He swerved into the oncoming lane (there was no one else on the road at the time) and hit the horn but it was too sudden a move and too late to avoid her. She ended up damaging both his front and rear passenger doors and the kick panel below them. The front end of her car was almost completely dismantled on the spot.

Another pain in the butt. Luckily no one was injured. I don't know about them, but Felipe had his belt on as always.

Always wear your seatbelt. You will never know where or when an accident can happen - it can even happen on a peaceful, sunny, Sunday afternoon, on
a quiet street. Be careful out there ...

I've always worn seat belts from as far back as when I started driving ... I started driving before I had a road license in autocross cars and learned the value of safety restraints early. I won't move the car from a parking spot until all passengers have their belts fastened.
