I've just got back from a Nicola Lake (Monck Provintial Park) 22km from
Merritt, BC, where my newly acquired Vivitar 300mm f5.5 and ME Super were
tested. I really like the combination, especially the tripod mount.

Our campsite proved an ideal spot to try wildlife photos, as half an hour
after arriving, we had an Osprey land 150ft away on a pine tree clutching a
large fish. We also had close encounters with Clark's Nutcrackers, Common
Loons, Night Hawks and Chipmonks to name but a few.

The Vivitar is a fine lens, so you might think of it as an alterative.
