Gang, I am looking at various notebook computers. One of the uses would be photo editing, but mostly it is for word processing and internet. Still, I would need to be able to do photo editing on it. With all the gear that Pentax will be bringing out, I can't spend a lot on it.
I've noticed that some manufacturers offer screen enhancements that have names like "True Life" (Dell) or "TruBrite" (Toshiba). The demo on Toshiba's website suggests that this is a gamma shift that lightens parts of images. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it just a gamma shift that one could do oneself? On the basis of value for money I am looking at Dell and Toshiba. Acer seems to get mixed reviews for reliability. Lenovo is too new to have established a track record. (I inquired how their notebooks differed from IBM Thinkpads, but the email I got back said that I had to call an 800 number. That's a good way for a company to lose me as a potential customer.) Thanks, Joe
