about 25 years ago I used to work at the British Library, which is a
copyright library in the UK, so publishers have a legal obligation to
file at least one copy of every book there. This means that every
photo book published in the UK is available. We also have a library
system whereby if you order a book from your local library they have to
search until they find it elsewhere or buy it, or get it from the BL.
So in between leaving the BL and having enough money to start buying
photo books I made heavy use of the local libraries. Sometimes it
would take months to get what I ordered, but it always arrived
eventually. Perhaps you have a similar system in NZ. Support your
local library!
