Whether RAW parameters will be saved for a .PEF file depends upon how you've set up Camera Raw's preferences.

PEF files are read only.

If you've set Camera Raw preferences to save settings in .XMP "sidecar" files and keep the .PEF and the .XMP files together in the same directory, when you open a .PEF file, all the associated Camera Raw preferences from your last edit session are preserved. (This is one of the advantages of using DNG instead of PEF files. If you've set the preferences for sidecar files, DNG files are writable and the settings are stored as XMP metadata in the DNG file itself, no need to track and keep the two files together.)

If, however, you have set Camera Raw preferences to maintain parameters in its own cached database, fully expressed path/file name to a given .PEF file will be used to save the RAW conversion parameters. I'm not sure that Camera Raw can track the file's settings if you change what directory you have it in, or whether the same Camera Raw centralized database will be used with different versions of Camera Raw on the same system. (I'm not sure what happens with this setting when using DNG files, but I suspect you lose the data if you move the file.)

You *need* to read "Real World Camera Raw...", Dave. ;-)
Sheesh, Bruce should give me a commission.

Hi gang.

I dont have PS at work, but, if i open a PEF file from a previous adjustment done in CS, will the changes still be there or will the original raw file, unadjusted pop up.

I'm just trying to fiqure if i can get the changes i made to the IR sepia shot to show anywere so i can do a printable copy and save. The more i think of it, the more i think i did the changes in Raw and only the curves and sepia in PS.??
