Are your umbrellas white? Have you tried shooting through them instead of using them as reflectors?
I have some white umbrellas, some are cream coloured, and I think one of them is a silver fabric. Fabric umbrellas are generally close to 50% efficient, and work as shoot through, but the quality of the light is very different, more like a softbox. I bought the Moonlights because I wanted round catchlights and better light control than a shoot through umbrella gave me, but the quality of the light is harsh and unpleasing.
