I was underwhelmed with that lens after playing with it on a 5D in the
camera store.
When I got home & checked the RAW files I though, "WTF is this crap!?"
Fascinating article, thanks Cotty... I have a friend who has 20D and
17-40/4L and 70-200/4L... He likes both and I've seen some pretty darn
good pictures. In fact, having seen his pictures I started on my way to
Pentax limiteds...
Perhaps these 17-40/4L was designed a while ago and digital (especially
full frame) considerations were not taken into account...
I don't think it is fair to expect from a complex lens such as 17-40/4L
to perform equally well under absolutely all conditions...
But having said that, I am kinda glad I have primes and Pentax primes at
that ;-).
