I don't know how expensive the Canon zoom might be. But unless it's a very 
inexpensive consumer zoom, I would expect good performance under all 
conditions. I think the new Pentax wide zooms perform very well. I don't test 
my lenses. I'm too busy using them. But I have yet to find fault with the DA 
16-45/4, and the DA 12-24/4 appears to be even better.
