It's because the Tamron 90mm macros (a few versions) have been famous for
their optical performance. Not many Tamron lenses are that good though.

My most third party lenses experience was Sigma which I do not recommend. In
fact, I was using Sigma for many years before I migrate completely to Pentax
lenses (mainly primes). In general, Sigma lenses have significant light fall
off at wide open, very poor flare control, relatively dull colour
reproduction, sub-standard built quality, timed built-in self-destructive
device (I cannot locate it yet but it's there, I know!) But to be fair, I
have never used their EX or APO lenses.
