When I started driving, in the early 1960s,  I avoided Standard (now
Chevron) stations because their price for regular gas was a whopping 36
cents a gallon.  There are quite a few stations in the Portland, Oregon area
still selling regular for less than $3.00 a gallon,  but it won't last long.
