I had an idea the other day. People are always asking about lenses or
looking up info on the various Pentax sites concerning a lens they are
interested in, at least I know I do this pretty frequently. What if people
on the list state that they are interested in a particular lens (or lenses)
and that they are prepared to loan a lens of their own in exchange. Each
party keeps the loaner for a week or two and gets to use that lens to see if
it's really what they want. (I think Mike Johnston did this with a friend,
except he swapped a Leica for a LX). The parties might be interested in
actually swapping, or perhaps one party buys the others lens, or they just
return them having had the chance to use a lens they don't own but always
wanted to try. Of course someone with a 50mm f2 wanting to try out the new
31mm Ltd. might not find any takers.

For instance, I recently bought a K105 f2.8 in EX shape and would be willing
to loan it to someone with a M85 f2 or maybe an A or M 100mm f4 macro. I'm
sort of interested in a M or A 100mm f2.8 telephoto (not macro). The lenses
should be in similar condition to mine. If anyone is interested, they can
reach me off-list.

I would like to see if anyone on the list has tried this, or thinks it's
lame-brained, or perhaps the greatest thing since sliced cheese. There are
probably some bugs to work out and any ideas would be appreciated. By the
way, I live in OK and would be willing to swap with others in the US.
