Hi,
I've spotted a slightly beat up MEsuper (body only) in an antique store
(AUD$65, ~US$30), a few light scratches on the baseplate, a rough scratch
(like dropped on concrete or attacked with a bastard file perhaps?) on the
top of the prism, the mirror bumper foam has been replaced, and insides look
clean. The meter is working and seems to be about right, although I had
nothing to compare it to at the time. Shutter fires fine on all settings,
but I don't know if the timing's right without putting film through it.
I'm currently using an old screwmount practika (my only Tak is a 35/3.5) and
was considering picking this up, and a couple of cheap K mount lenses,
aperture priority and TTL metering appeals to me, although lack of DOF
preview kinda sucks.
What I'm asking the group is; what's the general opinion of the MEsuper, any
things to look out for/avoid and how did they make it so damned small :-)?
I'll be back to look at it in a couple of days, hopefully with a lens and
some magic sticky tape in hand to test focus and make sure the prism isn't
out of alignment and a meter to compare it against.
Thanks,
Andrew Blake
