Yep, anything over NZ$400 (I think) qualifies for GST, unless its marked as a
gift on the customs label. If you're lucky you may be able to get off the hook
because GST doesn't directly apply to secondhand items, but I'm not sure how
this covers imports. It wouldn't hurt to find out.

Yeah their maths sucks. I wonder if they have "brackets" of value and they
mean "up to $699"?
