Shooting IR with my MXMX should be OK with IR as it is a metal camera
with a metal back. While I have heard that rubberised fabric shutters
can theoretically transmit some IR I have never heard of it happening in
practice. Some of our list members successfully shoot IR with
Spotmatics and earlier Pentaxes which also have rubberised fabric
shutters.
Number 25 red filter is the most common choice of filter for IR
shooting.
If metering TTL then set recommended film speed on the camera and the
filter will be "considered" by the meter automatically. If using a
hand-held meter an additional 3 stops needs to be added to the exposure
(3 stops wider aperture or 3 stops slower shutter speed).

I bought my MX second hand and don't have a manual.
So I need help with this area.
Can I use my MX to shoot IR film?
What filter do I need to use to shoot IR film.
What do I need to change in terms of exposure settings when shooting
IR film.
Any other pointers when I start doing so?
