So far I've kept my head down in the PUG threads, but there's
something I'd like to say.

People like to get comments on their pictures.

Observe that ever since PESOs were introduced, they have harvested a
lot more comments per image than have any PUG entry in the same
period.

No wonder the PUG has waned.

What you guys are discussing are ways to make the PUG more interesting
to people again. It's not gonna happen unless there is a community
effort to make the images therein a topic of discussion!

There used to be a small handful of devotees that commented on the
whole PUG. We have made several attempts to ensure that all images in
the PUG gets at least one comment. None of the plans worked out.
Interest continued to wane.

Unless someone can come up with a good incentive for photographers to
actually contribute to the PUG, I'd say it's about time to let it die
peacefully. Even good things have an end.

sincerely,
Jostein
