Well, they're not exactly right. I'm able to connect the camera to my win98se machine. However if you plan to shoot raw and need the Pentax photo lab software it won't install on 98, maybe not on ME, though I didn't actually try. It would probably run, but the installer depends on files not available in 98. None of my operating systems were pre-installed, as all of my machines are home built. (It's amazing how fast relatively new hardware runs when you're not using the latest bloatware from Microsoft).
