I went through similar trials with version 1 of Photo lab and
Photobrowser with the DS on Windows98.  And the fact that version 2
of the Pentax software didn't install on Win98 was truly annoying.

In the end, though, it doesn't really matter.  A card reader and a
third party raw converter is all that's needed to use win98 and the
DS.
