The beauty fo communicating throug images (photographs or art)  is IMO
that - IF the recipient is "on the same wavelengt" as the author or
publihser - he or she will understand the message, the question, the
statemnet, the joke etc. - if there is one. If there isn't, you are of
course free to make your own interpretation. You are anyway.

I have often been asked to photograph a certain "subject" or "theme" for
publications or presentations.
In my experience ( 28 years of photographing at work) - he or she who have
ordered the photographs tends to choose "a good photograph", rather than the
one that can actually illustrate the subject or the theme the best,
regardless of any artistic or technical qualities.
With a good photograph he or she will somehow get the desired message
through anyway. At least he or she will get the wanted attention!
