I have a friend who is using a Canon S2 IS camera and really wants an SLR. I think she would be very happy with an *ist DL especially because of the new rebate. What would your recommendations be for an inexpensive lens kit that gave pretty good results and flexibility? I was thinking of maybe the Sigma 18-125 f/3.5-5.6 DC lens along with a Macro lens or telephoto zoom.
Personally, I only use Pentax lenses and often primes at that but I am wondering if I should consider other options for her kit. I use the Pentax 16-45 and 24-90 zoom lenses for that range and I like them both. I was thinking that a more versatile all around lens might be better for her though. I haven't had any experience with the Pentax 18-55 but maybe that is a better option. Basically, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
